Setting the scene

One sunny afternoon, not long ago, if you had poked your head past the roller door at the Wine Gallery HQ, you would have found us all sitting around our internal wine bar (read communal desks) celebrating!

It had a been a great month. We had launched the new platform in late 2016. Our organic customer traction had started to pick up nicely. And on top of that, we had managed to score the award for best new Australian E-Commerce Startup. So moral was high. But at the same time, we knew that this was just a good start. And our minds quickly shifted to the list of ideas we wanted to do next.

And that's about the time we realised that our grand ambitions were being stifled by muscle power. You see our lean team was sharing the load when it came to running the warehouse and packing our wine box (or as we like to call them 'monthly wine adventures'). Which was cool in the early days, when we were packing one of two boxes. Hell it was a lot of fun! But in very short time, it has become a full-time role.

And that's where you come in.

Who we're looking for?

We need someone who will take a great deal of pride in running a tight ship. And by ship we mean warehouse. Someone that's going to pack a mean box of wine, and do it efficiently because we have lots going out. But also pack with lots of love, because they know that each box is a super important to all our customers, and customer experience is the foundation of what our brand is built on.

Specifically, you'll need to be able to learn our back-end order system, create boxes, pack wine, write gift notes, receive stock, do stock takes, keep track of incoming order and invoices, organise our supplies, manage the warehouse, help with customer service, build relationships with our drivers and suppliers and most importantly work really well with the team.

You need to be organised, detail orientated or preferably detailed obsessed!

Most importantly you'll be someone with grit, who can work hard and fast and handle long hours when needed. Expect to be pushed!

Okay. We'll level with you. We know packing boxes and managing a warehouse may not sound like a dream job to everyone. But for the right person who's going to take pride in their efficiency, revel in hard work and get a lot out of being super organised, we think it could be a great role. You'll be the first point of contact with our customers, and we take that very seriously. So you'll be an extremely valuable member of the team.

Lastly for the right person there's opportunity build their own packing team as we grow.

If you were reading the above and thought: 'Damn! I like the sound of that!' then let's pause for a second, while we tell you a little bit about us, so you can decide if we're the right fit for you.

Who we are...

We are a Sydney based, early stage wine startup with the mission to take the intimidation and confusion out of learning, exploring and most importantly drinking delicious bottles of wine. We are building a wine brand that is simultaneously remarkable yet inclusive, and it’s our mission to provide our customers with access to a world of wine that may just have been a little beyond their comfort zone.

We like to think of ourselves as providing monthly wine adventures, customised to each member's unique tastes, delivered to their door. Where they can learn as much (or as little) about their wines each month as they like. We're a little over a year old, and we've just started to hit our stride. If this sounds good so far? Great! So what's in it for you?

You can expect to play a big role in growing what we're building. We've got grand ambitions for where we want to take this baby, and you're going to play integral part in getting us there. You'll be foundational member of our internal wine team with a lot of autonomy, so self-drive is a must. But you can also expect a lot of support from the rest of the team.

You can expect to work hard, but productively, with a focus on results, not face time. You'll be moving quickly and facing new challenges every day. We're constantly testing and experimenting, so mistakes are going to happen. But we're cool with that because we're constantly learning and improving as we go.

We get that wine people lead interesting and varied lives, so this doesn't necessarily have to be a full-time gig. We flexible for the right fit.

Comp is negotiable for the right people, with employee share options a possibility. And of course there's a free wine subscription with your name on it!

'Okay. You've got me. What do I have to do?'

You're a grown up. You know how this works (well at least we hope you're a grown up, if you're not then get out of here junior burger). You can contact us regarding the role at:

And that's the whole burrito. If you've read this far, you must really be interested! And we're excited to hear from you.
